Photoshop or Corel

I've used both in the past as well - actually had both installed on my last PC and found that I used Paintshop Pro a lot more. Of course, when I bought a Mac, I started using GIMP - and now it's the only thing I use Mac or PC.

I use photoshop, lightroom and pretty much mostly adobe products. Basic reason for using them over other programs is because it is what i have been taught to use 5 years ago and i have found comfort with using them.

If a program came out that significantly beat out a program like photoshop i would gladly give it a whirl but most of these programs have similar capabilities so i am sticking with what i know.

GIMP is very close to PS but it'S free and open source. the community is still improving it. so it's getting better and better

I've used both. Found things I like and dislike about them.

What do you use to edit your photos, and why did you choose that instead of the other programs?

I use two main programs for stills (photos). PhotoShop CS3 and GraphicConverter. For anything except RAW adjustments GC totally ROCKS! There's just about nothing it can't do. I got into it some 10 or 15 years back editing cinema grade film for CG work. And it's grown into a truly wonderful product since! Very active development team! http://www.lemkesoft.com/content/213/videos.html It's really good at batch processing too! Helpful when your 8gig card is full and you want to process all of them in one or more ways, over to the HD and clear the memory card. I think it's $35 tho I think he should be charging about $250 for it myself. It also makes a fabulous browser!
