Pictures of my dog. C&C if you want...

This is my dog Piyana, a 7 yr old Cane Corso. I rescued her at 6 months from a puppy mill/breeder.

My Thoughts:

#1: Your focus is off, you focused on her nose, not her eyes.

#2: Too much going on in the background... it looks like glasses are growing out of her head. You also cut off part of her paw. Watch out for those things.

#5: You need more light on the dog, she is really dark here.

As for all of them... dogs don't look good in pop-up flash light. It turns their eyes green and creates harsh shadows behind them. Consider getting a flash you can use off camera. Or... for a quick fix get an index card and hold it at a 45 degree angle in front of your flash so that it will bounce the light off the ceiling (this works best if your ceiling is white).

Keep on rescuing dogs and keep on shooting!

If you have an editing program you can edit out the green in the eyes. On Lightroom I use the paintbrush tool... I don't know if this is the best way, but it's what I found! My dog is my favorite model. I probably take at least five pictures of her everyday!!

Piyana looks like quite a character, good job on the rescue - we rescued ours when she was a baby as well - they make great subjects for photos (especially with kids - I have 4 yo, "Nearly FIVE daddy!")) - practice and you'll get plenty of keepers.

With a dog like that every shots a mug shot , quite like number 4 though. 1 and 5 needs some improving with focus and composition in my opinion. good though

Thanks. Her head is so big that's about all that stands out!

I did go back and edit her eyes in GIMP so they look better.
