Pier Before Sunrise

Took this picture just before the sunrise on Christmas day morning. It was freezing cold but I think my effort pay off. Have done 2 version of cropping. Which one do you think is better ?

It depends on what you want the attention on in my opinion. Cause for me, the rocks have more of the attention than the pier in the first one.

In the second one, the sky and pier definitely have my attention more, and I believe that is the winner. Only my opinion though

The second - the sky is more interesting than the rocks. I would crop it just a bit on the left to get rid of the small vertical bit that is not in your first crop.

Horizon is too high in the first, and too low in the second. There are interesting elements in both parts of the image. Contrast, even. I'd like to see a full version. This may be one time I think the horizon works in the center, rule of thirds be damned.

out of these two, i like #1. i feel like i'm in the picture on the beach.

I think I prefer the first one if you want the focus to be on the pier.
