Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
I did a pin up shoot on Thursday (a very windy day in Lincolnshire).

My motto is, if you don't have an 18 year old model available, shoot a 68 year old model and use a little Photoshop!

NOTE: This lady is more than just a pretty face, she made the dress, too.

C & C are always welcome and appreciated.

P.S. Colours on my laptop monitor often look a little dull to me, I do my work on a desktop and am never sure how the colours look to others. I'm trying to figure out if I need to recalibrate.

Very nice, as usual, sir! The colours in the first image do seem slightly muted, especially the greens & browns. Two thoughts for possible improvement: 1. Add a nice bright blue w/ puffy white cloud sky, especially to the second image; and 2. I can help wishing the scarf (which I think is a great accessory) didn't cover up quite so much of her head.

As always great shots on a lovely lady, but I'm not quite feeling the Pinup look, especially on the skin. To me the Pinup look involves less realism/detail on the skin, more of a painting feel. Course I grew up a fan of Alberto Vargas, so I may be prejudiced in that feeling.

I think the problem with #1 is that I tried to compensate for this screen in a free editing software (I don't have PS on my laptop). The sky is a good idea, I'll try that! :) As for the scarf, it was really windy, the wig might have blown out of the county without it!

Gotcha! Yes, I did full Photoshop then dialed it back for a touch of reality. I'll pull up version 2 instead of version 3 a little later and see what you think.

Number two for me.....

Thanks Jeff. :)

A good, fun shoot with nice results. As mentioned by others, perhaps boost the contrast to bring out the color in the dress?

Very nice. I like the color, it has that old autochrome feel to it.

I prefer The first picture due to its direct eye contact with the viewer. looking at the picture I think you need to add about 15 cc's of magenta( eighties-speak!) to cancel that what I see as a very slight green bias in the flesh tones. You two make quite the photographic team!

Thanks for the suggestions; I took the 1st image all the way back to Lightroom and had a go at incorporating most of them...

I think your re-edit looks pretty darn good.

Very retro. Whilst I don’t do people photos I do see ideas if you did this shoot again have a period coke/Pepsi bottle
Just looked to check my thoughts, have a google of 1960s pin ups. Yours is of that period, . Looking forward to the next instalment

Now there's an idea.... There's a classic car rally on next weekend, I'll see if I can find one (or something like that) before then.

She's my very own vintage vintage model. She was about 8 or 9 when this dress would have been in fashion. Her big sisters had dresses like this. ;)

I agree your last edit is great, as a portrait, maybe even retro, but still doesn't have a true Pinup feel for me.

First and foremost, Pinup art began as a painting, the most dominant of the period being mildly erotic and sometimes humorous. Pinup artists were the Photoshop of the time as the ideal body then was an unrealistically stylized body, hand drawn illustration were the graphic tool for long legs, super thin waist, plumped up breasts, curves enhanced. Gil Elvgren's art was famous for not only posters and ads, but graced the noses of many military aircraft. I have to chuckle at young girls with their "duck faces" on social media today thinking they're doing something original, when It originated with Elvgren in the 50's. Gil Elvgren • Grapefruit Moon Gallery Course I already mentioned Vargas of Playboy fame, but another one is Zoe Mozart. Zoë Mozert, Zoe Mozert . Photoshop has some interesting tools under "artistic" and "transform" and a Google search will turn up several videos on how to do it in Ps. The main thing to remember is that a Pinup is a stylized version of the original.
