neat pic alexanda! really likw woodsacs edit :D

quite cool..you've made it seem as tho it is a staircase laying flat in a field (first shot).

I like how as I scrolled down (my laptop monitor is quite small), the ladder got bigger!! Nice :D

nice shot  i see why you love it. i like it in the b&w!

nice edits by woodsac too ;)

I agree with my boy Matt, I like the color one as you can see the water...it definitely changes the mood. I also like the original (posted anyway). It's all good. But I would play with the saturation in the color one and see what you get.

thank you sooo much much for the nice comments, everybody!!! :D:D
I'll have plenty of time to play with this one later on, for now, i must just concentrate on not failing my xmas exams ;)

Ok, had a break and tried a couple things on the color version. No big deal and I know I could keep improving it, but i'm really new to PS and stuff, so I keep discovering... For the first one, I just added some hue and saturation, changed the lighting a bit... almost unnoticeable stuff. In number two, well,, just discovered the "liquify" thing and had incredible fun trying to make it look psycho. Here:

I don't much like the arty one (sorry), but the other one is good. Can you lower the blue on the stairs though?

umm, how can I do that? *sorry, really new to ps...*

Me too, so I'm sure that someone can give you a better way, but this is how I would do it.

I would use the magic wand and highlight the stairs and then play with the saturation.

Or you could use the remove color cast.

If you don't mind, I'd be happy to try.

Here's what I did:

I cut the water into a new layer by itself. Then I went back to the original layer and used the remove color contrast by clicking on the right rail of the staircase. Then I went to the water layer, highlighted the lighter part of the water and boosted the saturation just a little (like +15 I think). Then I wanted to get rid of the blown part on the left, so I copied the right corner of the concrete by the water to another layer with a feather or 3. I flipped it horizontaly and moved it over. Then I copied it again and rotated it just a bit to try to keep the curve of the water's edge. I also removed that little bit of concrete sticking out on the left. Oh, and I got rid of one of the concrete seams to try to make it look more natural.

Hope that all makes sense.

Anyway, here's my attempt:

I love the fact that you're still trying  That's how we learn.

I went to hue/saturation - selected 'blue' and took the saturation waaay down. Then I used the wand to select the water with a tolerance of 15 to keep from selecting any similar colors on the concrete. Next I bumped the blue back up and changed the hue to more of a blue since it's kind of purple.
Then bumped just the green 10. Bumped the contrast and lightly sharpened.

It's a quick edit and could use some work, but it might give you some ideas of how to make some adjustments.

Woodster, I like your stairs, but I have to float my own boat and say I like what I did with the concrete by the water :)
