Planning a trip to Norhtern Idaho

My wife and I planning a trip to Wallace Idaho to go to Hiawatha trail. We're planning to travel from the MA. during 4th of July week. We've never been to Northern Idaho so any suggestions on things to do, see and photograph in this area and the surrounding 500 miles would be greatly appreciated

I have never been there, so i cannot give you first hand experience tips. But If i go somewhere i haven't been before i always use Google Earth and check the photos in the area to find some possible photo spots. Maybe you can give that a try.

Buy potatoes locally. I hear they are much cheaper that way.

obviously you know you will be close to Glacier NP. (somewhat) And even though the Locsha river won't be high I would still sign up for a rafting trip down it even at low water it's nice to see the canyon from water level. The lower salmon should be running if you can swing a couple of days for a rafting trip.
