Playing with lighting... B&W

Just started to try my hand at different lighting and how it can affect a picture.. Heres one of my better ones

Why? That shadow is exactly what makes this an appealing image, what gives it a bit of mystery and hence of interest. Otherwise it's just another picture of a kid with a Bieber cut. Heck, I give kudos to the OP for being able to light as much of the hair and face as was done while keeping the eyes shrouded.

appealing image is also a case by case basis. i personally would like to see a little more light on the eyes myself. other then that i like it.

i'm alright with it i guess. i hate the shadow in the corner more then anything. really depends on what the photog was aiming to do here. what mood we capturing? what is the purpose of the photo?
