Point and shoot recommendations

Hello all, My Nikon P340 recently met an untimely death. I have quite a bit of photography experience but this camera was great to throw in my purse or so my husband could use it as well. It's nice to be in pictures once in a while too.

So, I need to replace it. My max budget is about $400 cause this is just my "everyday" camera. I liked the lens on my Nikon because it worked nicely in low light. I am kind of out of the loop on point and shoots so I would appreciate any recommendations! Thank you!

Over the years I've answered similar questions by going to the internet and looking up camera reviews. Search on "compact camera reviews", and set a search parameter for "under $400". You might also search for "Nikon" because in all likelihood Nikon has simply upgraded an older model with updated technology, and will be better than your old camera, but similar. Meaning it will work in a familiar mode that you are comfortable with. Read the reviews, compare the features, and then look for a retailer.

For $400 (or rather 400€, dunno about US prices really) I *personally* would get a Ricoh GR (used; its no longer available new). But thats a prime lens compact. Genius one, but people less into photography probably dont like it.

Would I have to get a general camera with a zoom, I would get the Sony RX100 Mark II, which IMHO is the best RX100 to date and is now around this price point (new; used prices should be even lower).
