I think this thread is a hill you've chosen for yourself to die upon. Good luck wherever you end up.

Possibly. At this point, I don't really care. I can barely read the threads as it is because of overlapping text and in general, the moderation on this forum has just gotten silly.

I barely get on here anymore, and when I do, it just seems like mroe craziness has happened. So, if I die on this hill, so be it. At least I get to choose my hill instead of getting banned over posting a facepalm photo.

Do what you feel ya gotta do.

Although if we're going to voice our concerns over particular mods I think it's pertinent to mention that Overread has allegedly been known to berate members when no one is looking, shouting, "Bow down to the Macro Gods you little portrait and landscape shooters!" He's very hard to catch doing so though, so just be on the look out.

Sorry, felt a bit of levity was needed here.

Getting banned for posting a Meme is ****ing retarded.

Especially when forum members accuse people of having mental illnesses and they are free to keep on keepin' on.

Pathetic moderation.

I'm not a member of the KmH fan club, HOWEVER he is a very knowledgeable person and his contributions to this forum are certainly worthwhile. I personally think his moderation of this unruly mob is straight down the line. I have yet to see him close a topic that didn't deserve it, I have yet to see him close a topic without giving a reason why. His moderation is fair and it is even. I personally think he should be retained as a moderator.

As to the banning, I saw what happened and he deserved it. He was warned once and then did the same thing in spite.

Many people think that forums are a democracy. They are not. They are privately owned, and the owners of the forum, who are also those who pay the bills, get to set the rules. The forum members agree to abide by the rules when they sign up for membership. They are not asked their opinion of the rules, they are not asked for input on whether the rules should be changed, they are simply given the option of abiding by them or leaving. I agreed to this when I signed up, everyone else did the same thing. If people don't like it the door is in the same place it was when they came in.

Personally I think the rules in place are pretty simple, and they boil down to: Behave yourself, treat others with respect, post only photographs that are yours. Live by those three rules and there won't be any problems. Choose to ignore them and there probably will be.

Just my personal opinion.

Yell at the bear, and you will get cuffed by a paw. Poke at the bear with a stick, and you will be bitten. Poke at the bear with a sharp stick and yell and scream while doing so, and you will get mauled.

[Today's episode was sponsored by the letter "D", and by the number "3".]

Actually, maybe the door has been moved WAY OVER THERE ------------------------------------->>
along with the "Like" button. :lmao:

Or it's like I always suspected: TPF is the online Hotel California--"you can check out any time you want, but you can NEVER leave...: :D

This is hanging right by my front door:

This forum isn't my house.

The rules have changed over time. That facepalm photo is probably posted in hundreds of threads. Only one resulted in the person being banned.

As far as KMH, the only thing I have ever seen him do is correct grammar, post links to copyright law, post links to the forum rules, or post links to other websites and tell the OP he needs to get to reading. And if that is what he wants to do, fine. If he was a member, I could just put him on ignore and move on. Instead, he is a moderator and goes around banning people.

In any case, this forum has just gotten silly. When this many long time members are upset, there is obviously something going on.

As far as this forum being a democracy, of course it is not...it is something that makes the admin/owners money...this business just happens to be a bit different since we are the ones providing the content. Without the members, there is no forum. Just something I wanted to remind the admins of...which is why this was posted in the feedback forum. Wasn't necessarily meant for a debate.

Lol, I F'ed up the vote. You asked two different questions. You asked a question in your title, and a different question in your poll. I guess I should read closer, lol. I answered "no", as in no we should not revolt. It's asinine.

I edited the title right after I posted the poll. Unfortunately, the title that is displayed doesn't change, but if you look at my original post and the header, you can see that the title was, in fact, changed right afterwards.

At a time like this I can't find the "LIKE" clicky!

...banned over posting a facepalm photo.

That's what he was banned for?!!

Sheesh. And he was one of the best contributors. I wonder how many newbies get banned everyday for similar offences?

Although I think the punishment was a bit harsh for the crime, it wasn't just the facepalm pic. He was pretty antagonistic towards KMH. Did that deserve a ban? I don't know, but if he had posted that pic in any other context, he'd still be here. Not saying I agree, just saying there's more to it than what people are making it out to be. I have a feeling he'll be back in a few days anyway.

Having said that, things here are way better than they were a year ago. There are certainly things that slightly annoy me about how things are being handled (half the posts in the beginners forum being moved, for example) there's nothing that makes me want to spend less time here.

I will admit, there's times I miss the old Beginners Forum. Good times!
