I was wondering if anyone here has ever taken advantage of the Digital Days photography workshops hosted by Popular Photography Magazine. There is a session coming up in May in NYC and it sounds pretty interesting. I'd be most interested in the Beyond Beginner Workshop:

Expanding the Fundamentals
Examine light & composition, subject, color & movement
Advanced camera functions
Exposure modes
Analyzing the histogram
Live Shooting
Live model shoot! Lighting is set up and we have several model stations
Our instructors are available throughout the shoot to answer your questions
Various attendee images from the model shoot are critiqued live by our instructors
Digital Workstation/Workflow
How to organize your workstation/color calibration
Build a foundation of digital organizational techniques
Tagging, metadata, etc...
Advanced Editing/The Digital Darkroom
Color Management
Skin Tone & Other Editing Techniques
NEW! The Story Behind The Photo Segment
Our pros share images and the story behind them
Be inspired by learning about the creative capturing of images
Plus a Live Q & A!

Has anyone done the Digital Days workshop? Is it worth the money, and was it truly helpful? Thanks in advance.

You would need some basic understanding in all these areas, otherwise you will become very confused very quickly...as in not remembering what is being taught or how to make use of it in a practical way. Yes, there is lots of practice, but there is also for beginners or less expericenced enthusiasts one heck of a lot to remember.

So, whatever is learned, day by day needs to be immediately followed-up with practice, so that you can learn and ask questions and solve problems IMMEDIATELY. That is the challenge for the participants in these workshops.

I agree with skieur. That's a lot of stuff, and much of it I would think would get forgotten or missed. How many days is it? I feel like almost any of those topics is easily a one day workshop by itself. If you go to that, be prepared to take tons of notes, so that you can works on it later.
