portrait lens for 300D and 20D

the 50mm 1.4 is better than the 1.8. With a 1.6x crop, it's great for portraits. i think the 85 1.8 is better than both though. or you could go extra long and just get a good prime (the 200mm 2.8 MkII would be my choice).
