Here is a portrait I shot today:

EXIF is as follows: Manual, f2.2, 1/200th ISO100
Canon 5D Mark II with Canon 85mm f1.8 lens.
Used two Canon 430EXII strobes, one in front and camera left with a shoot through umbrella and the other behind the model (bare flash) and camera right. Can't remember what power I set them to, sorry.

Here's a behind the scenes shot that will give you an idea of the setup.

Skin on the nose and left cheek looks a bit grainy. Otherwise nice.

Did the flash to your right fire?

Yes it did. That's what's illuminating her hair on the right side of the picture. It's also lighting her left cheek.

It's a mostly pleasant photo, with a nostalgic feeling to both the lighting and the expression. My main concern is the right hand most side of the frame; is that her bare shoulder? What is that large light area--is that skin? Visually it is not reading quite right.

Excellent shot. I absolutely love it.

Did the flash to your right fire?

Certainly looks like it to me.

What is that large light area--is that skin? Visually it is not reading quite right.

It most definitely appears to be her bare shoulder coming through a sleeveless design, but I'm a little confused since the behind the scenes shot has her pictured with a sleeved dress on.

I like the dof and the whole feel of the photo. The hand positions are really good. It's a great shot! I agree with Derrel that the left shoulder could be improved on.
