This is my first self portrait. The coloring isn't the best, and I'm very much a newbie to the whole photography thing, so my camerea isn't the best. Overall I was pretty happy with it though. I think next time I will wear more make-up for a more dramatic look :D C & C welcome!!!

Cool shot Lexy, I like the perspective, it tells me you are exploring visually.
I am a big fan of catchlights in the eyes and wish the image had some front fill or light source on your face. Also if your are proficient in PS I would also eliminate the stray fly away hairs on the left side of the frame.

Overall good job! Thanks for sharing ;)

I think you had the camera in your hand; nice, you could include your feet, but sad it is not fully included; so continue with your different experimentations...
regards :D

myspace angle

Thanks :) Just trying new angles, and yes, it isn't the best photo, but I was happy for my first one.

Really cute pic. I wish I could clone some feet in for you, but I was able to add some sharpness and bring out your eyes a bit. Keep shooting.

Thanks! It looks a lot better with the lightness around the eyes :) I am going to take some more self portraits today, I will post them if they are any good.

myspace angle

Ah, thank you. I was starting to think I was the only one that saw "MYSPAAAAACE!" rather than a "cool angle".

The fact that you're *clearly* holding your camera doesn't help to make it look any less Facebook either. Sorry... not my cup of tea for a self-portrait. ::shrugs::

Agreed!

I'd have to agree with the agreement.

Agree with the myspace/facebook shot. i think the same thing shot without holding the camera would make it allot better. but might not be something your currently capable of doing.

For a first not bad at all... Much better then my first attempt at one (it will never see the light of day)
Some suggestions
Red-Try not to cut things off. Sometimes it works but as a general rule no
Black-They are right the hand held camera screams facebook/my space
Yellow-You need some fill light. Dont know what gear you have but a simple lamp would work to give you that fill.
Purple- You missed your focus. try using a tripod and pre-setting your focus. It should be on your eye not your hair.
Hope that was at least somewhat helpful. Keep up the good work the more you try things the better you will get. Some people here are hard on CnC so just take it and learn from it.

It could be a nice photo had you not handheld the camera. I like the perspective and angle overall. You have a great smile in the shot which gives it some personality but agree you need to watch that you don't crop off toes, hands etc.

Keep shooting, you are doing great for a beginner!

deffinetly snapshotty, and not concidered "portrait"
