Portrait Professional

Has anyone used portrait professional? If so, is it worth buying and how is it different from CS5? I see it in photo magazines a lot.

I bought this about 3 months ago and have rarely used it. I'm very used to doing skin smoothing and blemish removal in CS5 and PP does it way differently. They have an automatic feature where you set the location of the eyes, mouth, nose, etc... and the program proceeds to radically change the shape of person face along with skin smoothing and blemish removal. You can set sliders for how intense you want the changes to be and it is somewhat user friendly. Having said all this, I still prefer using CS5. It just feels better to work with. PP seems amateurish. I think it's like 40 bucks so no big deal if you don't like it. If I didn't have CS5 I would definitely use this, but I do so I don't.

Thanks for your reply, I might try the trial but if it does the same as CS5 I probably wouldn't use it much either.

Yeah. That's what I ran into. I tried it to see if I could use it to do quick edits, but I didn't like the results and making the changes manually was a bit tedious.

PP is decent... and depending on the picture can give some pretty good results. CS5 can do the same thing and more, but if your not good at smoothing skin etc, PP would probably be good until you get better at using CS5. I use it every now and then, it does a good job on eyes usually, but it automatically sculpts the face so I would normally turn the face skulpt feature off. As Danny said, I dont use it that often either, but for 40$ I think it would be worth it. There is times that it does a very nice job, and others when it starts doing its funny (automatic) stuff and screws up the picture. It all depends on the picture and angle of the face and stuff like that.

I use it once in a while. Its a great tool to have in your toolbox when you need it or wants to do things differently.

I have Portrait Professional and I honestly don't use it that much. I have an action that does skin smoothing much better. And if I were to invest in a software, it would be Portraiture.

If I recall, when I tried it, it would automatically do a slight facial alignment and some minor slimming.. automatically.. I didn't like that, but maybe it was a setting. Just something to look into.
