"portraits" of day lilies

Is anyone else fascinated by the "portrait" mode for the iPhone camera? How much computer power goes into this so I can push the button and leave (almost) the rest to them?

I assume it's the DoF rendering? Pretty cool, and given how well it's done, I'm going to go with, "A lot!".

The technology that goes into phones these days is amazing but they're still struggling, IMHO. To me, saying I like it would be like tipping my hat to a chef in a upscale restaurant that cooked me a frozen dinner. Where's the skill? Sorry, just not a fan of phone pics.
