Hi all. i was browsing through ebay earlier and came across a Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 for a canon. 100 canadian dollars, new, free international postage. I ticked the buy now but haven't paid yet, will do this evening. On thinking about this it just seems to good to be true, but paypal I think guarantees covering any losses. Was i just lucky do you think?

does seem almost too good to be true, but there are some fantastic bargains out there to be had no question. Check out the sellers feedback etc before you pay, but it may just be a genuine bargain! :-)

No feedback available for seller. Only a member since the 30 oct, but I think for that money it is worth taking a chance

go ahead, no one is stopping you. plus you already committed to buy it anyway so why post the question here when you can't pull out?

No need to be a smart ass, I have no intention of pulling out. Can't you have a bit of post buying discussion on the forum here. I will post any question i want to when i want to

eBay's buyer protection is insane. Just use a credit card so you can dispute if nothing comes of it.

You should be OK.

No feedback is somewhat bothersome.

Could mean two things:

1. Scammer

2. Legit doesn't know what they got and just wants some cash.

If its 1 you may be screwed.

If its 2 you are a lucky man.

Thanks JAC526. It's not big money as I said so its worth the small risk.

ehhh...

I don't purchase anything from ebay sellers unless there's atleast 500 feedbacks above the 98th percentile.

There are alot of good deals out there but there are also alot of scams.

hmmm...at first, my tendency was to think you are just WAY luckier than I am, as I've been searching Ebay and Craiglist for a month now to find one of those "great deals" on a lens.
However, a quick search on Ebay makes me wonder...is this the listing?: Tamron B005 SP AF 17-50mm F/2.8 XR Di-II VC Lens Canon | eBay

If so, I really hope you get what you expect, but it says they have 8 of them available. That means it's NOT just someone who doesn't realize what they have, and it makes little warning sounds go off in my head that it may be a scam of some sort.

It'll be interesting to hear how it turns out!

Yikes I agree with sm4him, that seems like scam written all over it. Let us know how it turns out I would buy one for sure at that price, I'm about to pick up the sigma lens similar to that. I would think the only way to get a price like that would be if they're stolen, and who would sell stolen items on ebay with it being so trackable??

Ebay's policy is very biased in favor of buyers. I know a few sellers who no longer use ebay because buyers have scammed them and they have no recourse. I'm pretty sure ebay will side with you if you get scammed.

sm4him, that is the one alright. Thanks all for input, I will let you know if it's for real

recently i searched up one of those cheap 8mm fisheye lens that doesn't have autofocus. they usually go for around 280-ish. but there was one i saw that was listed at $100 as well. the seller was also located in canada with zero feedback. and it was (similar to this one) the only listing he had. i tried to find the same listing again just now but can't find it, maybe it ended.
