Thank you all for providing input on this subject. It's all good food for thought. What I'm getting out of it is RAM size is very important. 1-2gigs
is being recommended. Also, I guess I don't need tower configuration that Mac Pros and the older Power Macs had - I just got it in my mind that that was what I wanted. An iMac with the right specs will do the job and I'll be able to keep from going broke.
That being said, I don't want this thread to end. I think there may be more to say on this subject.
