My buddy works for a company that makes displays for everything from potato chips to auto shows. The company is looking to have a photographer come in to take pictures of some displays.

What does it cost to have a professional come in to take pictures? How would you give them pricing? by the hour, they buy the picture, etc. Im not a professional but they are impressed with the work they have seen. I wont ask near what a professional would ask.

Hmm, I was going to say that according to this forum or another, they say you should ask for $25 or $40 a picture, and work it out in the contnract that you retain the copyright to the pictures, and that its a one time use of the pictures, if they want to use them again at a later date they need to pay you again.

Buuuuut $4000 is sweet, depending on how many pictures they want. Also sounds like they would be keeping the copyright.

Hope they dont like thier shots and hire you. Hehe, if it was me Id try to go for the $4000 instead of the camera and $1000 cash. Maybe offer to buy the camera off of them for $500, hehe.

The reason they may have paid $2000 for the camera was they got hte camera, they got a nice 200 or 300mm lense, and perhaps batteries, insurrance, warrenty, etc. It adds up fast. :0).
