Hi there, I'm just starting a photography course, and would like to learn studio product photography. Furniture is what i am going to be taking photos of.

I have been looking at getting a Canon EOS 600D, and i was wondering what lens i would need to get. I know that the standard lens that comes with the camera might not be suitable, so i have been thinking of getting a body, and buying a lens, if thats the best way to go about it?!

These are the quality and style of photos that i will be trying to achieve...Many thanks, Luke..

Lighting is going to be more important than most else with still-life images. With commercial product you're also going to want the whole subject in focus (or the part that matters anyway) so a large aperture isn't going to help you there. Prime lenses are generally sharper than zoom though, so maybe start with a 50mm 1.8 or a 35mm 1.8 to start.
