Greetings everyone,

I had my first proposal session, it was taken in Niagara falls after they had dinner in the Skylon Tower. They walked to the falls and I was taking pictures as the fireworks were going.

This was a very hard task... I was shooting it all with a 5dmkii and a 50mm 1.8.

It was too dark so I had to manual focus, in addition of using a aperture of 1.8 to capture all the ambient light that the scene had to offer. So the plane of focus was so hard to nail on the subjects. I was lucky to get a nice amount of images in focus. However during the fireworks i had to shoot at a high ISO ( 3200 ).

Here are some of the shots. I am new to engagement photography and any feedback/suggestions/tips would be gladly appreciated.

#1

#2 & #3

#4

#5

In addition I also made a little highlight video, telling the story of the night.

Thanks for viewing.

Many thanks,

Well done under challenging conditions!!! VERY nice work considering how critical the exposures were.

Thanks for your comments! I was happy with the outcome and the couple really enjoyed the photos and the video.

The timing was perfect with the fireworks lighting up the scene :)

Good job under your circumstances.

Nice set. My favorites are #3 & #5. Have you tried a crop of #1 without the lights on the left? Maybe even a portrait crop w/o the streetlamp, too?

Overall, though, very good job balancing exposures!

I will give those suggestions a try, I didn't like the outcome with the tree on the left.

In addition it was hard balancing the exposures with the fireworks and the foreground, thanks for the comments!

How far away were you and what focal length did you use?

I was using a 50mm 1.8 lens, as well I was around 10 meters away from the subjects. But I was moving around as I was taking the photos.
