What's new

Pulling my hair out... Looking for someone to take me under there wing!! and help me!

Kbarredo,

You keep using the word "intelligence". Here is the definition of the word...

Merriam-Webster said:
in·tel·li·gence
(1): the ability to learn or understand or to deal with new or trying situations : reason; also: the skilled use of reason
(2): the ability to apply knowledge to manipulate one's environment...

You claim to be intelligent. You claim this website is a popularity contest, that those who have been here longer and who are better known will get everyones support and backing. You claim you get the muddy end of the stick every time you are involved in a discussion/debate/argument with one of these people.

As such you know, through past knowledge, that you are not going to come out looking like a victor, yet you keep trying over and over and over..

You are lacking "the ability to learn or understand or to deal with new or trying situations". Given that you know the outcome before you make each post, you are also lacking the "the ability to apply knowledge to manipulate one's environment".

Am I saying you are not intelligent? No.. Merriam-Webster defined the word.

You have many more posts than I do. You have been a member here much longer than I have. Who do you think people like better?

That kinda proves your theory wrong. I bet I get more 'Likes' on this one post than you have from any of your 301 posts.

This was a remarkably silly display.

There were very few wedding photographers 100 years ago, only because there were few mobile photographers that could shoot indoors (slow film) so wedding photography through probably the early 30's was pretty much confined to studio shots by pros - and a lot of people got those.

I grew up in a small town that was 80% immigrant Italian and Portugese and everyone had wedding shots, confirmation shots, baptism shots all done by pro's - because there was essentially no or few hobbyists who shot more than Brownies because the time and expense was prohibitive.

The pro business built hugely post WWII with photo studios everywhere. The photo business has obviously changed dramatically in the last 20 years with people settling for less and hobbyists wanting to do more.

The statement that professionals shooting weddings is a new phenomenon just doesn't make sense in terms of the industry's different face through the last century.

Let's be fair, it was not Kbarredo who took this thread off track. Go back to page 2 & see.

Okay....Kbarredo has made the following contributions in this thread.

page 2-3 posts

page 3-5 posts

page 4-3 posts

page 5-4 posts

He's been doing a bang-up job on TPF causing drama, and airing his anger management issues, his petty jealousies of other photography enthusiasts, his marital problems, etc, etc. He has done ***plenty*** to derail this thread, Ron. Yet again, he has managed to take a thread and make it all about "him". He has been a huge contributor to the derailment of this thread. He might not have 'started' the derailment, but he maintained it, over and over, and over, page after page. He needs to learn when to just simply abandon a thread where he's getting his arse kicked and to just WALK AWAY and LET IT DIE... but, he cannot seem to do that.
So i should learn to just allow others to insult me and walk away. It would not have been about me if I had not been insulted. If I was to come to your thread and call you and idiot would you respond. How can I let anything die when every thread I make and every comment I post someone has to come up with an insulting one liner just to get likes. You complaining about me contributes to the derailment of this thread does it not.
You had the choice to just let it be and walk away but you needed to add your 2 cents to something that was not about you.

How does this prove my theory wrong. It actually proves me right. Me already having a negativity associated with my name people will automatically dislike me no matter what I say. When people see your name they have a neutral or even a positive view of you. Try saying something insulting to another well liked member or critique bitter jeweler and see how their view changes. Also howard gardner would like to say something about the definition of intelligence.

So many of these stories show that photographers were luxuries instead of necessities. My point was that they are considered more of a necessity now instead of a luxury. All I'm saying is that pro photographers are more of a standard now that in the last 100 years. Again my opinion.

no. My story, as well as the one of traveller, shows that in the past the pro photographer was the only way for having a picture, because cameras were expensive and not much diffused; traveller also pointed out that, in past times, wedding pictures were not taken for technological reasons. On the other side, Ron told that no one of his group had a photographer, but there was Ron with a luxury object like a camera able to take pictures. I hate to jump on the bandwagon, but intelligence is in part based on the ability of doing logical reasoning. In this case, at least you cannot add any evidence to your point. With some effort, you could deduce that photography (not the photographer) was or is a luxury.

Opinion: I would say that now many people can afford expensive cameras, and this is confused with the ability of taking good pictures. Unfortunately, in the case of weddings, you discover the difference when is too late.

You should read howard gardners 9 forms of intelligence.

reason I have no problem with. Needless insults is what started this whole thing. Oh well kmh isnt here so Im not sure why I started arguing with others.

Kbarredo, I think you need to clam down.
Do you know why things like that always happens to you here? It is not because how long the user been here. I do not know what your IQ is, but I think you need to work on your EQ.

The statement from KMH is a little harsh, but arguing here is not going to make you feel better. In fact, it is the opposite. If I were you, I will just say "Thank you for your kind words" and went back to the thread and act like nothing happened.
