Here are a few shots of my son, Quillan, I took earlier this year at the high school pool. He's been swimming competitively since 6-years old, and is the reigning Minnesota Class A 100 breaststroke champion. He is now at the University of Iowa, swimming for the Hawkeyes.

in the first one, I suggest cropping the left side right up to where his arm goes in the water. That makes him a mysterious figure surveying the water and removes some of that bright light to the left.
#2 I think the face is too dark and flat, the lettering on the cap draws my eye.
#3 could be great but too small to see well.

Agree with Lew; #2 really needed a bit of flash low and right to highlight the water and face. #3 seems a little muddy, and could stand a perspective correction, but nonetheless, good, solid shots.
