Question # 2 Cleaning your camera

If you know how to change the oil on your car, you can clean your camera yourself.

Hell, it's actually even easier than that...

Either do it yourself, or pay someone to do it for you - it's up to you. Either way, the end result is a clean camera. The only difference is how much it cost you.

edit
Look - you have a camera ... learning how to clean it is part of that...

You don't buy a gun and never clean it... You don't buy a knife and never sharpen it (well, I guess some people do, lol!)...

The camera is just a tool. Tools need periodic maintenance. Most people prefer to do that themselves. There are people more than willing to take your money to do it for you though.

I would refer to your camera manual for the exact procedure with your model. It's pretty easy to do.
A couple of side notes:
A. Make sure only dust falls out of camera, if parts do there might be an issue.
B. Resist the urge to remove parts.
And get a good squishy thing!

Take the body cap off, raise the mirror, dishwasher on the low heat option.

You know, this is funny and all... , but some day some mental giant is actually going to try this........

Then it will be Hi-Freakin'-Larious.

No doubt.

On this forum, I have seen people posting asking how to get the bits of tissue out of their camera after a failed cleaning attempt. No kidding. Anyone that seriously thinks that they should put their camera in the dishwasher deserves to put their camera in the dishwasher.

The spots become more apparent at small lens apertures, which is why you don't see them in all your photos.

Don't use Q-tips either!

One little mistake cleaning the sensor and you'll have more than a few little dust spots to worry about.
Really? I've been cleaning sensors since my first D70 - as I said in my earlier post; it's not difficult. Care is needed, but you really have to work to do any serious damage.

I used a baby nose bulb syringe that I got at Walgreens to puff out my sensor the last time I had dust...

Similar to this:
Amazon.com: Nuby Nasal Aspirator and Ear Syringe Set: Baby
I have done the same, and it works great. A bit stiff tho, the blower rocket is really soft and puts out alot more air.

I actually got a two pack one was like this:

and the other was like this:

the second one is very soft and easy to squish to make the air jet strong. Look for this style and you'll be golden!
