i think i read somewhere - maybe the d90 manual that when you have a lense with vr you should turn it off when your using a tripod? is this true and does it really make a difference that you can see? i keep forgeting to turn it off everytime i use my tripod and i think its causing a slight blur but im not sure if its cause i cant see or if thats what happens when you dont switch it off. anyone got any thoughts, info, or advice?

Yes, you should turn it off when using a tripod. The VR system works by counteracting movement of the lens...but if the lens is perfectly still, it doesn't really know what to do and it can cause the lens to move slightly, which is what can give you blur.

Maybe it is the not the lens but the operator!!! LOL JUST JOKING~!!!

Helpful?

Anyhow, I always do. I see a slight difference on long exposures.

You might want to re-read the manual on your VR lens.
