So today, after countless hours of reading up on photos and you tube tutorials I decided to actually go out and try to make the magic happen myself. Well, it took a moment to get the settings right since I wanted to do it all in manual, but eventually it started to make sense. So here we go ... please let me know what you see .... hopefully I post this right...

Nice. DOF focus on the yellow flower really draws the eye.

OK to me the flowers are out of focus slightly. There's a lot of empty space in the frame. I do like your composition with the subject in the 1/3 sectional. Keep at it!

I'd probably crop it a lot closer and bump up the sharpness, but nice start.
