RDH portrait of a friend!

What do you think? I know the composition is out of wack, I had my 50 mm and didn't have time to repositon myself as we were at the pinning ceremony. I did some subtle editing in LR and I over exposed the name tag so that's what the blur on her coat is..

Not bad, except for the NOT very subtle removal of the nametag (which is still legible). Go back to the original and use the clone tool to carefully remove the actual stitching of the name. You've kept pretty good detail in the whites, and the exposure is decent; I suspect that she one of those people who always appear to have slightly dark eyes. There's nothing wrong with the composition, 'though the background, with that large, horizontal purple stripe isn't ideal. Decent work.

okay, I will do that! Thanks for your thoughts! ;D I can't figure out how to take the old image out.. oh well.

Because of the overhead light this won't be perfect but pretty damn nice in any case.
I agree with Charlie about slight tinge in mid tones and highlights.
The biggest issue, imo, is the total whiteness of the coat, that pulls the eye unnecessarily. (and the space above her head)
With darkening the coat, cropping and a bit of pulling the curves layer to get some richness in the middle tones, I think it looks nice

It's not a studio portrait. You did the best you could in the circumstances and came out with a very nice image. You captured that smile and expression beautifully. :thumbup:
