Wildlife photographer here.
I rented a RF 600mm F4 for a week...the rental cost plus insurance was less than $100 per day.
Ironically, my best wildlife photos were from my RF 70-200 F2.8 as I had some big game too close for the 600 prime.
And after a day lugging the 600 prime on 6-mile hikes, I went with my RF 200-800 for hiking instead.
I am glad I rented it to appreciate how heavy it was for hiking and the limitation shooting from a vehicle.
A few photos from that 600 prime taken from the vehicle...black bear, blue-winged teal, bison calf.
