Rough looking Hairy

[Woodsman]

This was taken on a walk in the woods today, very dark under the forest cover and the lens just was not up to it so had to do considerable lightening in post Its a Hairy Woodpecker and he is not looking his best. I don't know whats up with so many of the birds here right now they are looking pretty beat up or in a molt on the head. Not just this Hairy but the adult Oriole and the Chickadees are also looking pretty rough.

Great captures. In the second her eye looks to big for her head.

Thats what I noticed too. I put it down to the feathers around the eye being missing. When its facing to the left in the other picture I do not see the same thing. It wasnt bothered though, moving around with ease and hammering away at the branch for critters.

Not looking good at all. The adult Oriole's head and the head of at least one of the Chickadees look the same. I am thinking its a molt. Earlier this year the make Oriole looked pretty bad, now hes a pretty boy
