Stopped by Goodwill this afternoon with my wife who wanted to look for some books.

It's in good mechanical working order with a slight ding in the top cover -- cleaned up pretty nice. They had just put it out.

I'm tempted, but as usual I'll probably give it to a poverty-stricken student at the college. They still teach a film-based Photo I class where I've been working lately. I tell them film should be taught now as alternative process but I'm just the old retired eccentric.

I owned a black Nikon FE back in 1985 - 86. I sold it after a while. I preferred the FE-2 and the FM, but the Fe, like the FM and like the F3 has the flip up AI coupler tab, which allows stop down metering with pre-AI lenses which is a good thing. I think $2 is a ridiculous price. $25 would be a better one. At my Goodwill a camera like that would be $19.95 or thereabouts. At my Goodwill small digital point and shoot cameras go for $6.99 on average. Last weekend I looked at the Kodak EasyShare 720 which had a nice German Schneider Kreuznach (sp?) 4x optical zoom, but also used a missing proprietary battery pack and so I did not think it was worth taking a $9.95 chance. Had it been a double A battery camera, I was prepared to test it and buy it. I have bought a couple of really nice Nikon and Canon point and shoot digitals at Goodwill and at another thrift store

I suspect they thought it was broken. When I found it the shutter was open, the mirror was hanging loose like it was caught in cycle and the advance lever wouldn't move nor could you trip the shutter. I turned the shutter speed dial to M90 and you know the rest of the story.

I've snagged some good deals at shopgoodwill.com not just cameras but lenses and accessories. Biggest score was nice case and 10 Interfit light stands for $30 including shipping.
