Good effort. The backgrounds are all really very busy and distracting.

the bike seems to draw more attention than the model, and the background is very distracting

Dare I even try and ask what you were using for lighting in number one? :greenpbl: Whatever you were doing is casting yellow on your model and is making her look jaundiced. At first I thought it might have been light reflecting from her outfit, but the shadow in the back corner looks yellowed too... as well as the parts of her arms *not* facing her outfit.

They're nice and sharp and exposed well... I can't decide if I think #5 is slightly under exposed or not though... and you're still taking shots of your model with her standing straight on, which again, isn't flattering to her.

The model is well-suited to this kind of shot. You have good clothes, good props (the bike, the tool chest, the spare parts), but you have absolutely AWFUL LIGHTING!!!!

The background's shadows show low-angle "horror-type" lighting, which comes from low, and casts upward shadows--NOT good.

Shots, 2,5, or 6 could have been pulled off pretty well if you had just ONE, large, dominant light source, coming in from high and off to the side, shining mostly on the model, and allowing the bike, the tool chest, and all of the "scene" to fall off into sahdows maybe 3 to 4 stops dimmer than HER and her outfit. The low-angle lighting just ruins it. She is clearly physically well-equipped and tuned up well enough to carry off these kind of shots...I like the tool chest as a prop...you ought to try posing her in the orange bikini, with one of the lower drawers open, and her right leg up on the opened drawer, then her pawing through a higher drawer and 'selecting' an appropriate 'wrench' for 'a task'...and light that with just one light source from up high and off to the right hand side of the garage...even just a flash blasted off the wall would be good, and would leave the back side dark....then, a very faint outline of hot, undiffused flash on her backside contours would add a nice outline. (hey...I used to read hotrod magazines...)

I would get it out of the garage.. just the bike and model. Somewhere where there is a nice background, that isn't so busy... something you can work some DOF magic on. Or at least move the bike and model as far away from the background in your garage as you can, and use just enough aperture to get them sharp, and fuzz the background a good bit. Put the emphasis on the Model, then the bike.. not on the background.

and you really need better lighting..... :)

Thanks everyone...cool to see you PCD771....this is by far the most critical site...which is a good thing! Will keep trying to get better at this :) Yes, I know the lighting sucks...

your garage is way to clean lol. i think it just looks like u shoved the bike into the corner and her along with it. like your lacking space (which u might be in the garage.) but for me its kind of making it looked like a cramped staged setup. versus a girl in the garage. the model looks great esp in the jersey and boots. i like the setup of #3 the best. just not digging the selective coloring.

+1, or get everything else out of the garage except her and the bike :)

My garage is super clean lol...I'm a bit OCD when it comes to my bike. I kind of liked the selective coloring but I do have it without as well....thanks for the comments!

I like the last one probably because of the tighter cropping. I'm not a pro but I'd bounce the flash off the ceiling to soften it a bit. I've done a few shots with sportbikes and a giant softbox works wonder.
