Select and Mask frizzy/fly away hair

Hi Guys,

I'm having trouble masking my daughters hair, using Photoshop CC 2015.5 (Select and Mask).

I've watched a number of tutorials (KelbyOne, Youtube, CreativeLive) but everything I've tried won't mask her hair sharply because (I suspect) of the frizziness or the fly-away nature of her hair. I can't find anything specific in google (using photoshop cc 2015.5 and fly away hair).

I've attached two photographs, before and after my masking of her hair.

Can someone please suggest a solution?

It's also due to her hair being the same color as the background. Computers & software don't know the difference.

That's going to be EXTREMELY difficult given how similar her hair is to the background. FWIW, I've never had any luck doing this either. I've tried (and spent hundreds of dollars) on every masking plug-in and tutorial on that topic, and very rarely can I get anything even remotely resembling decent. The channel separation method (search YouTube if you haven't already come across it) will probably give you your best chance, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
