Sharpening for Web

Hi all,

I have been trying to figure out how to get the ultra-sharp almost pixelated look that is prevalent on the web these days. Link to examples below.

That looks to be more an issue of good subject separation than any sort of special sharpening. Using an aperture that allows the subject to have sharp, crisp edges while still allowing the background to be soft. Usually the result of a longer focal length lens, likely on at least a full frame camera.

800X800 photo and good focus on the model - nothing special really. Well done commercial work.

The short answer:
Photographs destined for web display cannot be sharpened as much as photographs destined to be printed.
How much any photograph can be sharpened depends on the edge frequency in the image.

Those are the shortest legs I've ever seen. A much larger problem than sharpening.
