This is one of my favourite photos from a shoot last month. I feel guilty about liking it so much because the subject is standing square to the camera and is centered in the shot, both these I have learned are not recommended. Did I get away with it or am I just seeing this through rose tinted spectacles?

Nice.. with her legs like that, it minimize the impact of the straight on shoulders. I would clone out the shadow between her hands, though! Might even kill the shadows on the background, be easy to do! Nice outfit!

How's this? Rather than cloning in a new neck I stole the neck from a similar photo of her, pasted it in and cut to fit. I dumped the shadows and brushed in a pale grey background because pure white seemed too stark.

She is an attractive female, for certain...not sure if you are wearing rose-tinted glasses or ginger-tinted ones though...

I like her outfit enough...it's nice. But I do think the straight-on hips and straight-on shoulders are less than ideal. With the outfit's decorated hip-wrap feature, that extras cloth emphasizes her hips, and makes her look a bit both "hippy" and also a bit rounder through the waist than she probably would "like to look" in a photo. I see a subtle bit of extra width on the sides of her figure that I would probably warp out in post....just make that waistline less bulbous, and I mean imperceptibly so to the client. I think 10 to 20 degrees of torso rotation would have given her hips and waist and shoulders a slimming and more-dynamic appearance; than goodness you DID pose her legs well though, which partially offsets the square-on body positioning.

Square-on body positioning can be used pretty easily with very dainty people; this woman is not dainty, but instead voluptous and "solid". I like ladies who are anywhere from dainty to thick, so....hey...she's a fine-looking woman...but you asked...and I do think there's just maybe a tiny bit of ginger-colored glasses goin' on here...

I acknowledge and accept everything you're saying Derrel. Sometimes a reality check is necessary!

It's not the technicality of the photo and the pose that grabs me so much as the expression. Maybe the fact that I know the young lady and her personality helps colour my view? Not slimming her down in post was a conscious choice. I thought about it and decided not to.

I did say it's one of my favourites from the shoot, not necessarily one of the best.

Thanks, every time I submit a photo for C&C I appreciate all the feedback, store it in my head (as much as will fit) and take it to my next shoot. I'm not there yet but I think I'm better than I was when I joined this forum 18 months ago. :)
