Thank you, I will definitely have a great trip. I don’t think I will want to bring inside the helicopter anything strange such as dark cloth or any strange looking attachments. It is NYC and people still have memories of September 11 and are very concerned with strange people and strange things. I hope you understand. I will have to see what I will be working with once I am in the “chopper”.
I am thinking to go either very early on the trip or as late as possible so that I don’t catch that harsh lighting from the sun.

If the dark cloth is out could you take a hat (preferably wide brimed), and use that to shade the glass your shooting thorugh?
I've done this from trains in the past with some sucess.

I didn't plan well for my helicopter flight, being used to Cessnas where I could open the window.
Reflections did spoil the results somewhat but the shots were still well worth having. I've been on the lookout for tips ever since :blushing:

Sorry, I am not sure how a hat would block the reflection. Can you explain, please, or perhaps link me to the information

It's just a matter of holding the hat behind the camera, so the area your shooting through is shaded from the brighter light sources.
this trick helped a little on sunday shooting through the perspex into the cockpit of an Apache helicopter. I held the hat, whilst my son (who'd been allowed to sit on the helicopter) took a photo. The baseball cap I had with me wasn't really big enough, but you could see something in that shot, whilst the one before was all reflection.

Ah, memories! I served in the Army and loved photography even then. Got many a shot sitting in the open door of a Blackhawk.
