Shooting in bright sunlight

Shooting in direct sunlight will often times create a washed out look, as you described. Especially, if your exposure is off. After viewing your pictures though, your exposure looks great. Solid range of color and tone. Consider using an ND or polarizing filter. These will help to cut down on reflections, and also give you some control over colors.
