My wife loves this one, of course she's a little biased! Is there anything I could have done or can do now to make it better? I'm happy with it I guess, just want to see if I should be. Let me know. Thanks!

I don't think so; it's a snapshot, albeit a cute one, capturing a moment, and it does that nicely.

What does it need to be more than a snapshot?

Intent is what changes a picture from a snapshot to a made image. Control over lighting, positioning of subject, experimentation, knowledge of composition, and a bit of luck make a good image. Knowingly setting up a scene for success is what makes a real photograph :)

Can you give more insight as to what you mean by intent? I don't really see how intent would apply to this image I guess.

I did set the scene up as much as possible. She actually doesn't like the camera for some reason and is hard to get good shots of.

Please don't take it as me being defensive or argumentative, I'm not. I just want to discuss more so I can learn and graduate from a snapshotter, lol

Animals can be very difficult to photograph. With respect to shmne's comment (with which I agree), my feeling is that a photograph is an image which is planned. You envision an end product in your mind and execute it, planning the location, composition and lighting as required. A snapshot is not necesarily a bad thing, some snapshots are amazing images. This was a snapshot; I was walking by, heard him (her?) at work on the tree, ran to my truck, grabbed a camera and shot. These are photographs; each one was posed, and lighting and composition were considered.
