I don't often shoot people, but I really liked how this one turned out. How could I have improved it?

I would have gotten down to his level and added some depth to the image. Looks a little snapshot-ish.

It's a nice snapshot. I have to point out that you broke the cardinal rule of shooting children, which is that you should get down at eye level with them. Doing something as simple as can make the difference between a snapshot and a good photo.

This is a snapshot because it looks like you didn't put any forethought into it.

I'd have got him a smaller bike, he's not going to be able to ride that for years. H

Also the position of his left leg is very distracting and awkward looking IMO
