I used to be in this car forum from middle high school till half way through college and one day I realized that they were nothing but a bunch of teenage brats.... well so was I. Anyways, I haven't been into a car forum since.
So mature adults of photoforum, how about some car talk?

The curtains have finally been drawn and we've finally seen all of the hyper cars in the Geneva auto show.
Ferrari La Ferrari (what a dumb name) -http://jalopnik.com/the-laferrari-says-la-la-love-you-from-geneva-451300186
McLaren P1 - http://jalopnik.com/this-is-the-mclaren-p1-caught-on-video-at-the-geneva-mo-450886060
Lambo Veneno - http://jalopnik.com/lamborghini-veneno-all-of-it-450933018
Porsche 918 Spyder. - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porsche_918

So let's break it up into a few categories.
Design (from a artistic sense)
Technology ( they are all hybrids, but in different ways)
What does it really fulfill?
Like it? Hate it?

So I will start.
Design wise, I love the Porsche 918 ever since the concept was released, then came the Martini livery versions and it was like...... boner! The exhaust on its back is plain sexy, like a jet pack mounted to the car. The car has a timeless look. It's not over-the top like the Lambo, which I think was probably designed by the designer's toddlers, and retains the very essence of what makes a Porsche a Porsche. The proportion is perfect ( I think the Carrera GT had too long of a back), and its details all fit a cohesive language. The La Ferrari, to me, should have been what the Enzo was. That means I think the design is already a bit dated. There is nothing surprisingly pleasant about it. It's a design I won't complain about, but way too predictable. The Lambo... well, when the Murcielago first came out, I was all over it and thought "Wow, the first refined Lambo ever!", since Audi bought Lambo. Then they kept making thousands of variants of it and finally when the Aventador came out, it looked like a recycled design from the Reventon. It was way too busy, over the top and something I couldn't lay my eyes on for more than 30sec. The Veneno is much worse. Seriously, it's a 10 yr-old boy's wet dream, but not something that I can identify with. Well, not that I have that kind of cash anyways. Lastly, the P1 is a bit lacking in design. One cannot stop comparing it to the ultimate dream car- McLaren F1. Now THAT's modern timeless design. It still looks new and has a absolutely stunning presence. Jay Leno once described driving the McLaren F1 as "having sex with an aerobics instructor". Well, to me the P1 looks like a runway model. You know she's beautiful, but not the kind of beauty that a normal person can relate to.

Technology wise, the most revealed one is the Porsche 918. For a car delivering near 900hp while doing 78mpg, it's astonishing. I also think the approach that Porsche took is the most sophisticated one, having a two motors powering the front and rear axles, which is close to the concept of "motor-in-wheel" design. From the test driver's description, it seems that the electric motors fill the gaps where the engine lacks, making it always in power throughout the Nurburgring. The P1 and LaFerrari seem to take the F1 KERS approach, which basically gives boost to the car like the NOS button. Of course I don't know enough about them, but if that's all it really does, then I think they've missed what hybrids are great for, which is efficiency, something that the 918 does very well. Lambo..... just a bigass engine plus carbon fiber orgy, something that tuners already do well.

What does it fulfill?
Porsche 918 Spyder - Every question that everyone has about what's the real value of hybrid technology, as well as proving that you can indeed have both performance and efficiency together!
LaFerrari - "When's the next Enzo coming?"
McLaren P1 - They've all this technology, just trying to find a place to use it. Cool, but never called for.
Lambo Veneno - Every ten year old boy is going to get a piece of paper and crayons and start drawing the Veneno. No matter how distorted the drawing turns out, it will still look like the Venono.

I love the Porsche 918 Spyder since it was first announced. I still love it now, more than any of these other cars. It has everything I need to see in a true breakthrough. I think the world has enough of "plain fast, loud and expensive" cars. The 918 is a beginning, a role model and a true German pride.

So what say you?

Porsche, laziest designers in the world.
LaFerrari - meh
P1 - Not bad

Lambo - Friggin amazing. If I am spending 4 million on a car I want it to be the most bat**** crazy thing on the road ever.

heck this site can sometimes be way more childish then a car forum lol.

Can we really count the Lambo since they are only making three of them?

Bugatti Veyron 16.4
a supercar that is actually classy, elegant, and more power/speed than any sane person needs.
the design is brilliant. not just another "wedge" supercar. a real luxury interior, functional dashboard design, and you can actually drive it through town.

Yawn... it looks like a suppository and sounds like a wet fart.

mmmm...4 (and 5) cylinder engines boosted to the limits of engineering and throw in some anti-lag and you have a happy man.

Nice Runnah. So I've owned a VW GTI337 and a Mitsubishi Evolution 8. Man I miss my Evo:(

Anyways, while I was into the Evo seen I was on some local forums and one of the guys, Ryan Gates, was getting big into time attack with his Evo IX. When the Evo X came out he took it to a new level and R&D his own version of a Evo X which is going to be released to the public as a built, form the factory, Evo X called the Mitsubishi Evolution X 311RS!! Well enough of my babbling here's the link.

Gates311: Follow your dreams, to the max!

I forgot to add that I believe they are only making 11 of them? I could be wrong but man would I love 400 AWDhp/tq to the wheels with a warranty!

It is still more fun to drive a Mini ;)

I've always wanted one.. Now that they make a AWD version it is very tempting.

AWD Mini? Cooper S? Or just the countryman?

The Countryman S with a drop and wheel change is what's in my mind. Whenever I look at any car I never see it as it is, only as how I would change it to fit my liking.

Like this but ditch the graphics and a color change for the wheels/body.

This one is more like it.

Ferrari 250 GTO is more my style...On the other hand, I am not even old enough to drive yet.
