So.... I dropped my lens.

During a convention last weekend, I was switching lenses and accidentally dropped my Tamron 70-200 G2 lens. It seemed to be okay, and there were no visible issues. And when I used it later that day it seemed fine.

But today, during bridal portraits, this thing was having some issues man. I'm thinking it's the autofocus as every so often, it will just start having a seizure. After a couple of shots it will go back to normal. I've attached a video here for reference.



I'm open to advice and suggestions for fixing this thing.

I GET the same message as sparky's receiving. My suggestion would be to have it serviced immediately, before it fails at a critical time. If you go to the Lensrentals.com blog, you can see some teardown reports on modern zooms like 70-200 models...very complex internals.

That's what I thought too, so I turned off the VR and it still gave me this issue. In fact, I turned off all the settings (VR, autofocus, autofocus on camera) and it kept doing it.

Yeah, looks like VR to me rather than AF. Try turning VR off and see if it still does it.

I watched the video...looks like the Vibration Control element or group is malfunctioning, and is trying to stabilize the image. Sure looks awful. Sorry to hear about this.

Good news - Tamron serviced and repaired my lens under warranty. Just got it back yesterday and it's good as new. I missed it!!

Wow good of them to fix it if it was damaged in a drop. Good to know they are customer service oriented.
