sofortbild and d5100

My d5100 isn't recognized by the sofortbild tethering software. My old d40 works fine with it and I'm using the latest software version of the program and my mac is using version 10.8.5 for its OS. I sent an email to the developer and have not heard back(not a big deal the program is free). Tried everything I could think of and various combos of turning camera on before software and after. The web page says it is a supported camera.
Any help would be appreciated.

Got it figured out the USB cable that came with the camera was bad

Hello,
I have D70s but the software is not able to recognise the camera. The Mac is able to recognise that the camera is connected to it.
I have also enable the "support legacy camera" option in the preferences but this is not solving the problem.

Any suggestions please.
