Some flowers C&C please

I haven't posted in a while but figured I would... Here are a couple photo's. What do you think?

If I may make a few suggestions Jay

In the first one, there is a lot of "busy" background which is distracting. The "bokeh" has, for lack of a better word, a lot of halo's in it. For that reason I would crop the image somewhat to remove the distracting background and focus more on the main subject, which of course, it the flowers.

I cropped the image in Photoshop and blurred the background. I also lowered the contrast a little so it gave the image a little less "chalk and charcoal" appearance and sharpened it just a bit. All of these could apply to the other one. Of course you could leave the image a little soft like was to give more of an "impressionistic" feel to it, that's entirely up to you!

Yes the background may be a bit distracting... but I do prefer it that way. Maybe I will blur it out a bit more. Thanks again

I enjoy how the first picture is presented as it obeys the rule of thirds and creates a pleasing effect. Not to mention how that one vertical blade of grass cuts through the blurred background. Speaking of which...

What f/ did you use? I would open up the aperture a little more to really have the background blend (Bokeh, as mentioned above. Not to be confused with a particular similar sounding Asian Fetish ...)

Other than that I enjoy the "light" (as in, not weighing a lot) quality the picture brings.
