heres a few shots from monday night of "the groundnuts and independents", a local punk band here in swansea...

it's difficult to take live shots with a flash because you lose all the stage lighting, does anyone know how to overcome this? (apart from converting to black and white)

thanks
roon

Cant answer your question but thought I would just say I love the photos.

#2 and the last are my favorites, but they are all cool shots.

Flash´s not a good friend of concert photography unless you use it with long expositions. The way to keep stage lightning goes through using high iso and wide open aperture

i was on 1600iso with aperture wide open, it was a REALLY small venue though, the lighting was bad

Then, the way was taking long expositions to let stage lights come -slow-sync flash-. You´d get a moved image but the flash is there to freeze. A trick: use rear courtain flash. You will capture movement and a shaply subject at the end of it. Very dinamic images, cool for concerts
