got some nice shots of some western and least sandpipers (the least sandpiper is the smaller one with the yellow legs) up at a marsh on Whidbey Island this afternoon... they were resting on a log, and didn't seem to mind me approaching to within 20 feet or so for some photos. the first shot, of a least sandpiper in the rocks, was actually even closer, more like 15 feet... the last shot with the western and the least 'piper in the same frame really show how small the least sandpipers are! the light was variable as the sun went behind the clouds or briefly burned its way through; for most of these, the light was really nice...
