These are just some of those I didn't delete. Anyhow, all feedback is welcome :)

Btw, I have used a Canon EOS 40D with a 50mm 1.8, and I was a little late outside. Not dark, but, erhm, I don't know the English word for it :P Anyway, the pics:

Let me ask you, how long have you been doing photography? Tell us what you like about them.

The problems are obvious, the exposures & compositions are all bad. What kind of camera do you use? What settings did you use to take the images. It's a learning curve when you first start to take photography seriously. Good on you for having a go though. It's tough to post images you are not sure about and then get ripped for them. Time for you to hit the books and learn about cameras and the basics of photography.

He used a D40 w/ 50 1.8 looking at his exif data. I wanted to ask what he liked about them and what he wanted to achieve then explain what to do and what not to do.

But here's the exif data for the last one

Camera Maker: Canon
Camera Model: Canon EOS 40D
Image Date: 2010:10:31 18:05:45
Focal Length: 50.0mm
Aperture: f/2.0
Exposure Time: 0.033 s (1/30)
ISO equiv: 800
Exposure Bias: none
Metering Mode: Matrix
Exposure: Manual
Exposure Mode: Manual
White Balance: Manual
Flash Fired: No
Color Space: sRGB

40D is a decent camera so he has a lot of scope to improve. The third one is better than I probably initially gave it credit for. For his other two he would have been better off probably using aperture priority rather than manual mode. Manual is OK if you have a light meter or you know how to use the inbuilt light meter on your camera to work out what the best exposure setting should be.

But the only way to get better is to keep practising and playing around with the settings and see what works and what doesn't.
