nice. I like #3 the least--the subject blends in with the background too much. great set.

#3 is the best, followed by #1.

Both suffer from motion blur which, i know is going to be hard with out a bunch more lights. What lens are you using?

Better than the majority of board pictures that are posted. Like the idea of the last one, background kills though, for that to really work it has to be clean.

@runnah: Yeah, the main problem is the sync speed of 1/200 for external flashlights. For #1 + #3 i've used a Sigma 15mm Fisheye. For #2 + #4 a 50mm Canon.

I agree that these are better than most (if not all) of the skateboarding pics I have seen posted here. For me, #1 is just plain awesome shots (even though there is some haloing around the subject, but I think that ads to the drama of the shot, as it makes the motion visible). I like the angle, the exposure, and the composition, but mostly, I like the backlighting.

In the case of #2, technically the shot is great, but I woul dlike to see a LITTLE motion blur; the way it is, he looks like he just stood there, when (I assume) he is doing a tail slide.

I agree that for #3 the subjects blends too much; plus, the handrail makes it look like he was just standing there and junped (I know he was not, but you get my drift, right?).

#4 has merit as far as the idea, but the angle and the background kill this shot. I would continue exploring the idea, though, as I think it's a winner.

Also have the guy pull up his pants and nobody likes to look at other people's underwear.

Definitely keep an eye on the background. Having that other guy standing there taking photos just does not work.
