Here are a few shots I took over Thanksgiving. I am still new to it all, so be gentle. I do appreciate the helpful advice though.

The third one is tough for me to edit, because depending on how I have my screen tilted changes the brightness.

I have a hard time editing sunsets...and have really only taken sunsets on vacation or on the boat before....

The house/lighthouse...I wish I could see the whole building...how big was it? Did it keep going? I particularly LOVE lighthouses. I went to Peggy's Cove in Nova Scotia, Canada around 14 years old...It's where my photography in life REALLY started. I just had my first P&S and came out with some pretty cool pictures for my age. What I would give to go back now..with my experience and gear. I would love to see what I can do now..

I like the last one the best. #1, what was the subject? the sunset or the weeds. #2 would be nicer if it showed the whole lighthouse building

Thanks for the comments. I see what you both mean, if I had gone to the front side I would have got more of the actual lighthouse. There wasn't much of the building left on the backside of it. I think I was honestly going for the weeds more than the sunset that day because the sunset didn't come across so nicely at the time.

You scored a bullseye with the Sun in #1.

Unfortunately, from a visual image compositional perspective that is one of the weakest places in an image to put it. so is having the horizon split the middle of the image frame.

Crop the photo. Eliminate the left 1/4, and bottom 1/4 of the frame. I can't illustrate exactly what I mean about the crop, or demonstrate any other edit possibilites because you have choosen to not allow edits of your photos.

Are you trying to edit on a laptop that has a TN type display?

I have a macbook pro, not sure what a TN display is, sorry still a newbie. I changed my profile and made it so you can edit my pictures, should have made that option available from the beginning. I did take several other photos of the sunrise splitting it better, it was just that photo came out the best. Again, thanks for the help!

TN (Twisted Nematic) type displays have narrow accurate viewing angles. The viewing angles are so narrow you cannot see an entire image accurately at a size large enought for editing. TN displays are the least expensive display type. Most TN displays can only display a 6-bit color range (64 colors per color channel) JPEGs are 8-bit image files so they have 256 colors per color channel.

The next best display type is PVA (Parallel Vertical Alignment) displays, though not many PVA displays are made.

Critical image editing is best done using an IPS (In-Plane Switching) type display. The Macbook Pro is one of few laptops offered that have an IPS sceen. High quality IPS displays can cost a couple thousand $$$$'s.

I think the first shot would have been better if you captured a little less of the bush still had it but gave the sun more of your frame then youd have had the foreground middle and background if you set up for affinity DOF.
