Sony kit lens vs. Minolta

I have an A55, kit lens 18-70mm, and it does take okay pics, but I was wondering if a Minolta lens close in the same range would product a sharper image. I can get one for $75 dollars, but would like to know if anyone uses the Minolta lens on their Sony, and are photos sharper or am I just wasting money.

Your just wasting your money. Anything around that price range in a zoom will not be that great. Youd be better off buying old prime m42 lenses and using an adapter.

The newer Sony 18-55mm SAM kit lens is much better ... I had the 18-70mm and I can see a difference.

I appears that the Sigma 18-50mm is even better.

fwiw save your money. Look for a used sony 16-50 2.8. they can be found for 500-550. That lens kick major butt.
