Spider!!

nice spider.

on #2.. would have been more interesting if you hadn't tilted the camera to make the spider vertical... the crooked trees in the background look strange. Either more bokeh prefereably to kill the background (its busy), or shoot with the trees straight (level horizon)

Thank you for the tips!! I see what you mean now, but I didn't have much choice for a background, it was that or a up close picture of my house ;)

you could have also shot with flash and a high sync speed (exposing for the spider)... that would have give a nice dark background to the shot... lots of different ways to go...

I admit I didn't think about flash (because there was already plenty of light) but my flash settings are Auto, On, and Slow Synchro. I don't think any of those are what you're talking about is it?

with your powershot, you may be a bit limited in what you can do. Try it and see.... if you can get the camera to meter on the spider... flash should work. If not, it might still give a better shot.

If I see the spider again tomorrow I might just try again. But yes this Powershot is highly limited, but I don't have the money to upgrade.

Well I know there is probably bigger ones under my house. I'd kill this one and no doubt there would be plenty to replace it. But the whole time I was taking photos, I kept expecting it to jump on my hand and bite me. That would probably give me a life long fear of spiders lol ;)

Such a totally freakin awesome spider. I want one. My wife would freak out though. I'm glad you got a chance to get pictures of this one.
