What's new

Sports Photography Camera choice....

Rc51's are tractors...same as with all the other oil leakers ya'll mentioned! In my dreams I'd like an 1198.

But for the time being, I'm on this, can the BMW or Harley do this?:

I liked the RC51 because I could use the entire rev range and I usually scared the little boys and girls on their i4's.

The Daytona 675 I own at the moment can certainly do that.

Damn, now my mind is off of cameras and back to bikes! I love the 675, can you do that on your 675? ;)

What are these old lenses that you are finding on Craigslist?

You can do this on the GS Artic circle Norway, Sweden Lapland 6000 in 3 weeks 2 up, can you do that on yours

Yes...but it would hurt my as...err, bottom!

You could also get and old broken Canon P&S and trade it in on a 7D using the Canon loyalty program, giving you a highly advanced AF system and video very close to your price range. That would just about get you everyting you're wanting except the lens.

Then it depends on your budget for lenses and there are already good suggestions here for that.

Nikon lens mounts have been very consistant over the years so almost any Nikon lens will mount on almost any body... Canon has changed lens mounts over the years so older lenses generally don't fit newer bodies.

Almost forgot to mention...
Would take a Kawi over any of the others almost any day. I used to race a GpZ750 back in the day.
Any Honda with a "R" in the designation is gonna be ok with me.
Goldwings are really poorly designed tractor-trailor rigs.
And Nikons are well... :meh:

Heh heh.

I did post one fact.

And Honda sucks, everyone knows the only good motorized vehicle they've ever made is the RC51.

I will disagree with with VI, (and as a result agree with Yamaha girls tractor comment ) Honda also makes one hell of a riding lawnmower:lmao: Actually....Hondas 250R quad was a nice bike if you dropped some coin into it.

Also, BMW rules all things motorized.

I guess I should atleast add something of use here. The only camera you would get new in that price range that has video and is halfway decent from Canon would be a T1i or T2i but they have slow burst speeds. I would either scrap the video and go with a 50D or spend a couple hundred more and get a 60D. But I like canon, not sure whats comparible from Nikon.

Well, there's the all murdering D7000 that's comparable if she wants to go a couple hundred over budget.

D7000:drool:Throw the budget out the window and get a 2nd and maybe 3rd job. Fast glass ain't cheap.

what about canons mount change?....will that play negatively into buying older lenses? i honestly dont know since im a nikonian.

Canon made that switch 23 years ago, and has availabe more than 100 EF and EF-S lens options through Canon first party lenses alone. There are also tons of options available from third party manufactures like Sigma and Tamron. Plus, with adapters, the larger mount will accept just about anything, including almost any Nikon lens.

I've honestly never seen it become a situation where someone was dissuaded away from Canon because they couldn't direct-mount a 30-, 40-, or 50-year-old lens to it.

Look for a body with a high shutter speed and a lens with reasonable zoom and and aperture of 2.8 or 3.5
Hope this helps.

Er... Don't 'look' for a lens that has f/3.5 as it's largest aperture. They're not usually the best optically.
