Star trails and laundry, which one is better?

Hi all,

Looking for C&C on these two shots, same photo, just one cropped. Which do you prefer?

This photo was made using Startrails 2.3 freeware www.startrails.de with 250 photos stacked (not my software - not trying to sell anything either, just giving kudos to a job well done in building this software).

I like #1. In #2 the laundry line draws my eyes down towards it and I think it takes away from the star trails.

2 . it adds another contrast. And yes, the laundry draws the eye.

here is the thing, 1 is cleaner. But with 1, it is just another star trail photo and not a great one. Another star trail photo isn't really much to it. That isn't really art or a full photo. Its just another star trail photo.

2 at least adds something different. cleaner, no. But something different with another item in the frame. the laundry give a everyday ordinariness too it, then with the trail above it makes for a different photo.

type in star trail photo in a search engine. I prefer any photo that would be a great photo without the star trail, and the star trail being the cake icing.
people concentrate on just the star trail, usually the rest of the photo lacks.

this ones "okay". (keep in mind I don't even do star trails)

I see what you mean about prefering any photo that would be a great photo without the star trail, and the star trail being the cake icing.
Although I do like the shot with the laundry in it, because it takes a mundane scene, one that you wouldn't expect to be in the shot, and helps to give scale to the scene, as Derrel says.
Makes it "out-of-the-ordinary".
